The story

Why I only work on the whole arc.

Build, scale and exit are not three services. They are one journey, and most owners are sold only the middle of it.

01
The pattern

The same practice, over and over.

Early in my career I kept meeting the same owner in different rooms. Brilliant clinician. Full diary. A practice the whole town respected. And a personal income that did not come close to reflecting any of it.

They had been told the answer was to work harder, see more patients, open longer. None of it moved the number that mattered. The harder they pushed, the busier the practice became and the more the take-home stayed exactly where it was.

Busy is not profitable. I watched that truth break good clinicians who deserved better.

It was never a talent problem. It was a structure problem, and nobody around them spoke the specific language of independent practice well enough to fix it.

02
The turnarounds

Thirty practices, one method.

So I went to work on the part nobody else would touch: the commercial engine of the practice. Pricing. Treatment mix. Recall. Payroll. The eleven quiet places profit escapes before it ever reaches the owner.

Over time it became a repeatable method across more than thirty independent dental and optometry practices. Same diagnosis, same sequence, different practice. The take-home moved, often dramatically, without the owner working a single extra hour.

03
The exit

Then I watched the value walk away.

The hard lesson came at the end. Owners who had built something excellent reached the point of selling, and the practice was worth far less to a buyer than it was to them, because everything depended on the owner being in the chair.

Multiple 7 figure exits later, the conviction is settled. If you do not plan the exit while you build, you give away years of work at the finish line. That is why I will not work on only one piece. Build, scale and exit are one arc, and Mastery Coaching exists to work all of it.

Make the practice valuable to a buyer, not just to you. That is the difference between a sale and a windfall.
